Does art imitate life or does life imitate art? Photographer DeWayne Davis has passionately endeavored to solve this timeless mystery. His quest to answer this clarion question is found through the scope of a lens, exposing the truth of the matter. A novice with no formal training in photography, Davis embodies what it is to be divinely talented and gifted. Based out of Baltimore, Maryland, his work chronicles not only the epitome of why this metropolis on the east coast is considered Charm City, but also reveals those areas of Baltimore which have been abandoned, abused and neglected.

Davis is the CEO of Marsalis Images, named for the son he desires to have one day. He has nurtured that desire and gift into a groundbreaking business (http://www.marsalisimages.com). In the active role of entrepreneur, Davis understands the importance of chronicling life's varied stages against nature's unforgiving backdrop, while being privileged to document these everyday experiences for the purpose of growth consciously and even fiscally.

It is said that the eyes are the windows to one's soul and Davis' talent proves that a camera lens has the ability to capture the soulfulness of time and evolution. Davis' art showcases the images reflected through Mother Nature which is oftentimes neglected by those chosen to protect her. Davis describes his work as being organic, skillfully promoting the vulnerability of his subjects, whether human, environmental or universal.

His collage of the Jena 6 protests that stretched across the nation on September 20th showcases the re-birthing of the civil rights movement. While traveling to Washington, DC, armed with his weapon of mass creativity (camera), the collage reveals the perseverance, innocence determination and vigilance of African-Americans united for a common cause – freedom and justice.

His talent surpasses the typical 'aim and shoot' tradition of old, capturing ordinary glimpses through a digital camera. Davis' creative passion epitomizes love without limits or desire without boundaries. Another collection or collage of sorts is photos taken with his cellular phone. This collage of pictures communicated from the ear to the eyes, is detailed with angles, composition and texture, very similar to the work of Gordon Parks. This specific collection of Davis' shows his daring risk to capture life at a moments notice. The angles, the subjects all sincere and endearing, visually capture the enormity of the world through a cell phone lens.

DeWayne, affectionately known by friends and colleagues, has a larger-than-life personality, is also regarded as a passionate poet and a colorful comedian, yet it is his role as photographer that leaves admirers speechless. His work has been described as "the truth found in the still images of life". Marsalis Images endeavors to leave the world a piece of its truth via photographs documenting innocent memories, vulnerable subjects and a captivating glimpse of human nature powerfully engaged with eternity's quest to unfold magically, majestically and panoramically.
